Patient info exposed in Massachusetts hospital IT incident: 4 details

Lawrence (Mass.) General Hospital reported patient info was exposed during a September information breach.

The healthcare facility notified clients of the event on Nov. 5. Four information:.

1. On Sept. 19, Lawrence General Hospital recognized a data security incident that disrupted IT operations.

2. The health center secured its IT systems and informed police of the event.

3. An investigation exposed that an unapproved party may have accessed some patient details between Sept. 9 and Sept. 19.

4. The compromised details may have consisted of Social Security numbers for 5 names and people and patient recognition numbers of others.
