5 hospitals, health systems piloting digital transformation programs

Here are 5 companies that announced pilots of brand-new development programs or expansions to existing programs throughout October, as reported by Beckers Hospital Review.

Health centers and health systems throughout the U.S. are pressing digital improvement efforts forward by producing brand-new tools and releasing innovative programs..

1. Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente and Best Buy Health broadened their joint pilot program leveraging tech and support services through remote monitoring tool Lively Mobile Plus amongst workers. On Oct. 4, the partners rolled Lively Mobile Plus out to all Kaiser Permanente Medicare members as part of its Medicare Affinity Program, which offers non-medical services and products to assist older adults live separately at home.

2. Kids Mercy Kansas City partnered with biotechnology business Pacific Biosciences of California and Microsoft on a genomic research study and tech advancement project to fight unusual diseases.

3. Childrens National Hospital in Washington, D.C., received $5 million from Boeing for its new research study and development campus, which intends to promote collaborations between medical personnel, scientists and diplomats to establish brand-new pediatric care technologies.

4. Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based health system AdventHealth presented another virtual intensive care system, this time at its health center in Lake Wales, Fla. The health system scaled up its existing collaboration with telehealth service company Advanced ICU Care, as the Lake Wales place joined a number of other AdventHealth health centers that have telehealth-enabled ICUs.

5. Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital expanded its telehealth program to assist Brewer, Maine-based Northern Light Health and Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital with stroke care.
