Boston Children’s physician chosen as CIO of MaineHealth: 4 notes

Portland-based MaineHealth has actually tapped Daniel Nigrin, MD, as CIO, efficient in January, health system officials said.

Four notes:.

1. Dr. Nigrin currently works as senior vice president for info services and CIO of Boston Childrens Hospital.

2. He also practices medication in the Boston Childrens division of pediatric endocrinology and is a senior member of the Childrens Hospital Informatics Program.

3. In his brand-new role, Dr. Nigrin will replace Abdul Bengali, who joined MaineHealth in January as interim CIO. Mr. Bengali joined on an interim basis soon prior to Marci Dunn, the health systems previous CIO, passed away after a long fight with an illness, authorities said.

4. Dr. Nigrin finished medical school at Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University and made a masters degree in medical informatics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.
