Washington University taps former Johns Hopkins CIO for interim job

She acted as CIO for all divisions of the Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University and Health System till her retirement in July.

Washington University in St. Louis has picked Stephanie Reel, previous Johns Hopkins health care information technology and services leader, as interim CIO.

Washington University officials stated Ms. Reel will report straight to Mr. Martin.

At Johns Hopkins, Ms. Reel played an essential role in the expanded and enhanced use of electronic client records at Johns Hopkins Medicine, as well as the production of the systemwide Epic EMR system. She likewise was accountable for the launch of the Technology Innovation Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine, which creates digital health care services across the organization.

Ms. Reel became vice president for information services for Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Medicine in 1994 and then was called vice provost for information technology and CIO for Johns Hopkins University in 1998.

Ms. Reel will take control of the position during Washington Universitys search for Chris Kielts long-term follower, the school stated in a press release. The search is set to start in 2021.
