ASEPS will be my last company and I have actually enjoyed working for a wonderful team over the years falling from 15+ hrs daily to a comfy 6-8 per week … noice as Sharon would say. Thanks HCA.”

In in between I based myself in a health center for some years up until it was time to move on again. The phone call to Tina, now ASEPS/HCA, I am always greeted warmly with Welcome Back Gabi.

OKAY so we have come a long method ever since and over a span of some 5 years, I have actually worked in every speciality and came across the most extraordinary scenarios in time critical scenarios, even had a TELEVISION gig a couple of times, with a number of management positions in between. However I always gravitated back to Orthopaedics. What is predictable is the unpredictability of Perioperative nursing and I still enjoy it.

” It was 1970; getting to half method through my 2nd year of training at Prince Henrys Hospital, St Kilda Rd Melbourne when the bug bit me! I enjoyed it, frightening and interesting at the exact same time.

The discipline of cleaning up the instrument racks and the glass shelves every weekend was one way to learn the difference in between curved Mayo or Metzenbaum scissors and set up metal trays from scratch, with rubber rolls of silk ties, prepared for Monday mornings list. We rolled cotton balls, loaded gauze, washed and repacked abdo packs, gloves and made up linen bundles to name a simply a couple of chores.

The diversity of work I was used was great, 24/7 if I wanted. Some years later, I worked out I had actually worked in every Metropolitan health center in Melbourne and beyond with some 42 healthcare facilities on my books. I have been a teacher and completed my B.Appl.Sc (Nsg) with a teenage child to handle and a partner taking on the function of debrief agent after a difficult day.

Back in Melbourne, one day in the mid 80s I dropped into the Agency, based in a small office in Railway Pde Blackburn at that time, only to be greeted warmly by one Tina Phillips, who hired me on the area!

Canberra health center was my very first job in OR to move up to a degree of seniority, the grading didnt exist then in the 70s.

Healthcare Australia has offered a job that pays well, a job where I can define my own time, increasing or reducing the hours I work per week. Healthcare Australia actually altered my life. I would also like to thank my associates that I have actually worked with over the years and those that have actually assisted and assisted in my growth and my journey.

” I had just completed my hypnotherapy internship and my focus was to continue informing and growing within the healthcare field. A few months after returning to Perth, Western Australia from Melbourne I was selected into the Royal Perth Hospital pathology training programme. 18 months later on I had finished my anaesthetic professional theory training and I then began working as an anaesthetic technician in a major mentor hospital in Western Australia.

Not to be hindered, I finished my RN degree, and after my graduation event returned to Melbourne. At that time, I did not understand the working choices available to me. I successfully acquired an irreversible position at a personal health center. This sadly left me with little time flexibility. Throughout this duration, I developed a keen interest in ceramics. I made bowls, mugs and commission pieces which were being offered by word of mouth. I had to find something else that would enable me to foot the bill and offer some income to facilitate my new hobby. I had actually been directed to Healthcare Australia by another colleague that worked for them and a visit was made with Tina. Everything that she had detailed and described was exactly what I needed.

Credit to both Nurses for sharing their stories with us at HCA
