Outstanding research by Agfa RSNA R&E Grant recipient
For numerous years, Agfa HealthCare has actually been a proud sponsor of the RSNA Research and Education Foundation. Throughout the years weve supported numerous brilliant young radiologists with a series of Research Scholar Grants that assist them to advance research in their field of interest.
In 2017 the Agfa RSNA R&E Grant went to Manisha Bahl, MD, MPH, a breast imaging radiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Manishe used the grant for her preliminary research on early phase breast cancer and performed her research study “Machine Learning to Predict Risk of Upgrade and Recurrence of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS).” Given that the initial research study has received more than $1.3 million in additional financing from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and continues to lead collective research efforts with MGH, Harvard and MIT to advance understanding of early phase breast cancer. “The function of my research study is to develop a tool that properly risk stratifies women with early phase breast cancer. The tool will integrate scientific, imaging and pathology information, utilizing cutting-edge machine learning and deep knowing methods.”
