The contract does not affect Erlangers relationship with its medical staff, and it does not avoid other hematologist-oncologists from supplying care in Erlangers hospitals.
Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center will provide hematology-oncology services for Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System.
The collaboration provides Erlanger patients access to 2nd viewpoints from Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center subspecialists, representation at molecular growth boards (meetings where companies talk about cancer treatment strategies), scientific trials and specialty procedures.
The expert service arrangement, announced Oct. 8, develops Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center as Erlangers unique contracted supplier of adult inpatient and outpatient hematology-oncology services. Vanderbilt-Ingram will offer medical direction and hematologists and oncologists to Erlanger.
