” In the interest of making progress in contract negotiations, Alameda Health System agreed to engage an external negotiator to assist in our talks with SEIU 1021 and we had currently employed a conciliator to support contract talks with CNA for represented nurses at San Leandro and Alameda medical facilities,” the declaration included.
Union members state they have issues about understaffing as well as health and security issues for workers and clients. They also declare bad-faith bargaining and unreasonable labor practices.

” Our clients are some of the most marginalized people in our neighborhoods and we have an obligation to defend them and to demand that the county supply us the tools we require to keep ourselves safe, our patients safe, and our communities safe,” Mawata Kamara, a signed up nurse at the health systems San Leandro (Calif.) Hospital and a member of the CNA board of directors, stated in a news release. “We do not take lightly the choice to strike throughout a pandemic, but we feel we have no option if we are going to get the changes we need to supply the absolute best care for our patients throughout this crucial time.”.
In a press release, Highland Hospital emergency space nurse John Pearson said: “We have been concerning AHS management for years, informing them about what our clients require, and theyve been stopping working to provide it. Im scared of what will take place to our clients if we do not strike.”.
