FDA establishes health innovation center, says ‘most cutting-edge digital health technologies’ should come out of US

The FDA appointed Bakul Patel, who has led the firms digital health device-related regulative and scientific efforts considering that 2010, as the centers very first director.

” Establishing the Digital Health Center of Excellence is part of the FDAs work to make sure that the most cutting-edge digital health innovations are rapidly established and reviewed in the U.S.,” FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn, MD, said in a press release. “Todays statement marks the next stage in using an extensive method to digital health innovation to recognize its complete potential to empower consumers to make better-informed choices about their own health and offer new choices for assisting in prevention, early medical diagnosis of deadly illness, and management of chronic conditions beyond standard care settings.”.

The recently introduced center, a part of the FDAs Center for Devices and Radiological Health, will provide internal and external partners with resources and advice on new technology development to redefine the companys digital health device oversight.
