HHS Office for Civil Rights on Sept. 1 updated its previous Health App Developer Portal and altered it to a HIPAA resource page for cloud computing, mobile health apps and application programs interfaces.
1. The upgraded web page provides mobile health designers and other health IT stakeholders resources on the intersection of health tech and HIPAA personal privacy and security protections.
2. The updates aim to help suppliers and health IT developers much better understand what HIPAA guidelines they must follow and how they apply to various mobile health apps, including HIPAA Right of Access and APIs.
3. The brand-new webpage likewise covers guidelines to assist HIPAA-covered entities and company partners such as cloud providers determine how they can use cloud-computing technologies while meeting still satisfying HIPAA compliance.
