Philadelphia-based Temple University Health System is paying perks to clinical employees who have been battling COVID-19 from the cutting edge, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Like many health systems, Temple has actually experienced monetary fallout from the pandemic. It reported in May that the pandemic contributed to its $7.6 million bottom line in the nine months ended March 31. According to the Inquirer, Mr. Young stated the perks were possible because Temple received $90 million in emergency relief funds provided under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act and had solid pre-pandemic financial results.

About two-thirds of Temples labor force– 6,500 to 7,000 Temple staff members– will get the payments, president and CEO Michael Young said, according to the paper. In a memo to staff, Mr. Young stated this consists of staff members who have been reporting to a scientific setting that deals with COVID-19 clients given that March as a caretaker or as a support individual.
